Doing my part...

Just so nobody thinks I've mellowed on the whole screw Obama thing. A kid was out on Capitol Street with a clipboard, asking people to sign a petition to let Ralph Nader on the November ballot.

Of course, I signed it.

Some dirty hippie chick asked me to sign the petition at Vandalia.
Of course she has to be shifty about it and says something like "This is to let other people on WV's ballot". It was like pulling teeth to get her to admit it was for Nader.
I told her to take a hike.

But did you sign it with a real name or the name of your favorite cartoon character?

I saw an interview with Nader years ago that made me totally feel like he's an egomaniacal asshole who cannot stand to lose in conflict; therefore, he spent his life taking on battles that were understandable if they were lost (because they were against giants) and virtually uncriticizable without appearing to hate the common man.

The Princess Diana v.2 type of celebrity, a 'saint' with a hidden agenda.

If your Screw Obama campaign is successful, what do you win exactly?

Well, Bill if Nader doesn't make it there's always Cynthia McKinney- as a congresswoman, she was billed to show up at an anti-mountaintop removal rally somewhere around the Greenbriar region if I remember right. It will more than likely be McKinney or Charleston's own Jesse Johnson on the Mountain Party's ballot line since they affiliated with the Greens. (Jesse is also running for governor- if he's nominated at the US-GP convention I'm not sure how that's going to pan out).

To be honest, I really ain't for sure how I'm voting for president in November. Politics in this country just flat out suck.

Jay,
If my 'campaign' is successful, I get the same thing everybody else gets in this state if anybody wins... nothing.
Nothing changes until someone is willing to make a real change and not just use it like a buzz word. I wanted Obama to be that change. He isn't. Neither is Clinton (obviously). Neither is McCain (even more obviously). Neither, actually, is Nader -at least not as a politician.
I got a coffee mug for Christmas with a nifty slogan on it. It says "be the change you want to see in the world." This is me being that change. I am peacefully, but earnestly protesting, in my tiny, feeble way.
It's all broken. Electing anyone to any office higher than a dog catcher has become more and more pointless. Haven't we been given fairly adequate examples of that here at home, as well as on the national stage?
Let Nader in. Let Clinton stay in. If that nut Ron Paul wants to keep playing, I say fine. Jay, if you want to run, I'll sign that petition, too. We don't have enough options. Who said we should only be allowed two? We are a nation of millions, not hundreds.
